Fantastic Crapple Bars

This is a “guest” post by Sarah.  Sarah is an amazing cook, baker and pastry chef.  She often whips up a batch of apple dumplings for the pure pleasure of it ;-)  That would be an all weekend affair for me, and I’m sure it would involve some cussing.

Sarah is sharing the recipe for her fantastic Crapple Bars.  Although the bottom of the recipe says, “Cut when cool,” they are delicious still warm from the oven!

1 1/2 c rolled oats, uncooked

1 1/3 c flour
2/3 c brown sugar
3/4 c butter, softened
1 large green apple, chopped
1/2 c craisins
cinnamon
pinch salt
1/2 c shredded carrot
Mix together: oats, flour, brown sugar
Cut in butter until crumbly
Add everything else and mix well
Pat into greased pan
Bake 40 minutes, 400 degrees.
Cut when cool

  1. Hmmmm. I would eat an entire recipe, then add coconut or chopped nuts to the next batch and then eat that. Whee!
    Finished the Wedding Gift afghan! Yipee! Now to finish “that” table cloth. I am telling myself that my reward for finishing those LARGE projects will be gettng to make baby knits for the next three impending events! Fun!
